The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere today issued a yellow warning for the mountainous regions and the south coast of Madeira.
In the case of mountainous regions, the alert warns of heavy rains for the period between 6 am and 12 pm tomorrow. There is also a yellow alert for the whole day on Monday, due to the wind from the south quadrant that can have gusts of up to 95 km/h in mountainous areas.
The south coast is also under a yellow warning due to “sometimes heavy” rainfall between 6am and 12pm this Sunday.
On Monday, on the south coast, the wind will not blow as intensely as in the mountainous areas, but the institute predicts that the “wind from the southern quadrant may come with gusts of up to 75 km/h, especially in the western part”.
