The evolution according to the categories was uneven. Compared to the same period in 2021, the extra and first category bananas from Madeira increased by 20.0% and 12.3%, respectively, while the second category showed a reduction of 1.7%. Of the total number of bananas sold, 81.6% belonged to the extra category (79.7% in the same period last year).
In the reference period, June was the month with the highest volume of banana sales (2,455.4 tonnes), although February was the month with the highest relative increase (+42.0%).
