Bad weather forces the closure of walking routes in the Region this Sunday

The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) informed this Saturday that classified walking routes will be closed, for safety reasons, this Sunday, October 29th, and “as long as meteorological warnings (yellow and orange) for precipitation prevail issued by IPMA for RAM”.
For safety reasons, the IFCN advises not to travel in mountainous areas and forest areas.
After the warnings have ended, classified walking routes will be opened, with the exception of the following which will remain closed:
• PR 1 – Vereda do Areeiro
• PR 4 – Levada do Barreiro
• PR 7 – Levada do Moinho
• PR 12 – Caminho Real da Encumeada (partially waxed – the section between kilometric point PK 7+680 (PK 0+000 in Bica da Cana) and Encumeada will remain closed)
• PR 15 – Vereda da Ribeira da Janela
• PR 16 – Levada Fajã do Rodrigues
• PR 19 – Paul do Mar Royal Path
• PR 20 – Vereda do Jardim do Mar
• PR 23 – Levada da Azenha
“With the opening of the classified walking routes, we would like to thank you for your collaboration in reporting any anomalous situation (occurrence of breaks, existence of branches on the routes, or others), which occurred during the closure period. Communication can be made by email, to one of the following addresses: ifcn@madeira.gov.pt; luisa.gouveia@madeira.gov.pt or ana.se@madeira.gov.pt”, the IFCN also informed in a note published on social media, adding that since The routes are located in areas subject to strong climatic pressure and consequent natural erosion, so walk with caution on these circuits.
