Levada do Alecrim is approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) long and takes around 3.5 hours to complete. It’s a relatively easy hike, with just a few steep sections and narrow paths that require careful treading.
Along the way, visitors will pass through a variety of landscapes, including dense forests, lush meadows and rocky cliffs. The route is surrounded by a diversity of flora and fauna, including endemic species unique to Madeira.
One of the highlights of Levada do Alecrim is the stunning Dona Beja Lagoon. The sound of rushing water and the misty spray of the waterfall provide a refreshing break from the hot, humid air.
