Levada da Serra do Faial is a typical levada walk on the east coast of the island of Madeira, which begins in the neighboring of the municipality of Santa Cruz and ends in the municipality of Machico.

With about 8km of extension, the Levada of Serra do Faial is a calm course to be carried out, being maintained in almost all its extension in quota 850m. Levada da Serra do Faial is a route that assumes several scenarios along its route, since it can combine rural surroundings, where the intense and overwhelming forest predominates, with daily life on the outskirts of the counties of the East Coast. There are several crossings that provide a harmony between the two distinct realities. Along the walk you can see in the more rural side, the large trees, the Laurissilva Forest and the emblematic species classified by UNESCO with Natural World Heritage.

The strong eucalyptus aroma also transports us to the transition zones between Laurissilva and the most exotic forest. The vestiges of the once cultivated fields and the walls and haystacks of paired stone complete a scenario that transports us to the imagery of the most remote time, where agricultural life filled the whole area as well as the daily life of people.
