Paulo Pereira, president of TáxisRAM, revealed that the agreement is outlined, only the signatures of those responsible are missing.

TáxisRAM partners voted this afternoon in favor of integrating taxis into the Uber platform, in a new step in its expansion and modernization strategy in Madeira and Porto Santo.

The integration of the taxi sector into Uber’s platform is the result of a new understanding, after much criticism from the company when the market was regulated by the State Government.

This initiative represents a step forward in the digitalization of the passenger transport service and “aims to ensure greater sustainability” for taxi professionals, Paulo Pereira told Jornal, shortly after this afternoon’s General Assembly, which also approved the 2024 report and accounts and the 2025 budget. According to Paulo Pereira, after authorization from the TáxisRAM General Assembly, the aim is to create a management platform, for better organization and efficiency in taxi operations. “This will be the first time that Uber will officially operate with taxis in Portugal”, reinforcing its presence in the regional market and offering new opportunities to taxi drivers.

“The expectation is that this integration will work in a similar way to models already tested, such as Bolt. Thus, taxis operating in the Autonomous Region of Madeira will be able to join the Uber platform” under the same conditions previously established for other services.
