Madeira Archipelago under yellow warning from Friday due to wind

The Madeira archipelago will be under a yellow warning on Friday and Saturday due to the forecast of strong winds, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The yellow warning will be in effect between 9pm on Friday and 6pm on Saturday due to the forecast of northeast winds with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour, which could reach 100 kilometers per hour in mountainous regions.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.

Today, Madeira is expected to have generally very cloudy skies, light showers, especially on the northern slopes and highlands of Madeira Island, periods of rain from the late afternoon onwards and light to moderate northeast winds.
