A tourist who had been missing since yesterday in the mountains of São Vicente managed to return to the hotel where he is staying by his own means.
According to the PSP deputy delegate, Fábio Castro, the first alert was given by the individual himself via 112, around 4 pm yesterday. “The citizen in question was lost in the mountains of São Vicente and, due to network conditions at the time, the call ended up going down,” he pointed out, explaining that several attempts were made to contact him, but without success.
Subsequently, the PSP used satellite location technology to try to identify the tourist’s position. “We were able to determine that the citizen was fine, without injuries, he just did not have access to the mobile network and was lost,” he said.
The searches began at 6 pm, mobilizing elements of the PSP, the São Vicente Volunteer Firefighters, the Forest Police and the Regional Civil Protection. The work continued until midnight, but due to the lack of response from the tourist and the difficulties of the terrain, which was slippery and difficult to access, it was decided to suspend the search and resume it this morning.
However, at around 11 am, the tourist contacted the authorities informing that, in the daylight, he managed to find a trail and return to the hotel.
The man is in good health and did not require medical attention.
