Madeira’s airports will have direct connections to the US city of New York, starting on June 8, ANA-Aeroportos de Portugal announced today, highlighting the increase in the number of passengers in the region.

In a statement, the company that manages airports in Portugal informs that the air connection between Madeira and New York will be provided by United Airlines, which will also begin its operations in this airport infrastructure.

“With the inauguration on June 8 of the new New York (Newark) – Madeira route, United Airlines becomes the only American company to operate at the five ANA airports, now with the new routes to Faro and Madeira, which begin in the summer of 2025”, says the note.

In addition to the direct connection to New York, Madeira will also have direct destinations Nantes (France), London (United Kingdom), Edinburgh (Scotland), Shannon (Republic of Ireland), Milan (Italy), Brussels (Belgium), Nuremberg (Germany) and Bournemouth (United Kingdom), ANA indicated.

In the note, ANA also highlights the fact that, in 2024, Funchal and Porto Santo airports registered more than five million passengers and recorded an 8% growth in the current winter season.
