Based on forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the maritime authority indicates that the wind will blow from the north/northeast “fresh to very fresh, being very fresh to strong in the extreme east and west of the island of Madeira” .

As for visibility at sea, he says it should be “good, sometimes moderate”, while the swell on the north coast will be in the order of 3.5 meters and up to two meters on the south.

The captaincy reiterates the precautions to be taken when preparing to go to sea, such as when at sea or in coastal areas.

Reinforcing mooring and close surveillance of moored and anchored vessels, avoiding walks in areas close to the sea, not practicing recreational fishing, especially near cliffs and cliff areas frequently affected by breaking waves are recommendations contained in the warning to the community.
