Orfeão Madeirense will once again organize the Christmas Choir Festival “Natal no Funchal” in what will be its 24th edition. In the wake of previous editions, several concerts of Coral music will be presented in various parts of the city of Funchal.
In this year’s edition, in addition to Orfeão Madeirense, the Choir Group of Casa do Povo da Camacha, the Choir Group of the Casa do Povo of São Roque do Faial, the Choir Group of Arco da Calheta and, as a guest external to the Region, the Coral Sant’Ana that visits us from Oliveira do Hospital.
The concerts begin on December 16, at 7 pm, at the Mercado de Natal da Placa Central, where the Orfeão Madeirense will perform.
On the 18th, the concert will take place at Igreja do Colégio at 9.30 pm and will feature the participation of Orfeão Madeirense, Grupo Coral da Casa do Povo in São Roque do Faial and Coral Sant’Ana.
The following day, again at the Mercado de Natal da Placa Central and again at 19:00, the Coral de Sant’Ana will perform.
The Festival resumes its concerts after Christmas with a concert at the Cathedral of Funchal on December 29 at 9.30 pm with the performance of Grupo Coral do Arco da Calheta and Grupo Coral da Casa do Povo da Camacha.
On the 30th, also at 9.30 pm, these two choirs will join Orfeão Madeirense at Igreja do Colégio for the Closing Concert of the Festival.
As part of the official Christmas and New Year’s Festival program, the Christmas Choir Festival “Christmas in Funchal” is already a landmark in the city’s musical panorama at this time of year and aims to provide relaxing moments for its audience through the Christmas songs performed by the participating choirs.
Taking into account the current health situation, the organization asks everyone who attends the Festival’s concerts to pay attention to the current safety rules.
