The Funchal port authority today issued a bad weather warning for the sea off the Madeira archipelago until 6 am on Saturday, February 22.
The warnings are based on forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), which indicate winds from the west/southwest with gusts between 13 and 30 km/h, sometimes reaching 39 km/h), becoming “gradually calm to moderate” from the north from the end of the afternoon.
The waves on the North Coast will be from the northwest, between 2.5 and 3.5 meters, gradually increasing to 3.5 to 4.5 meters. On the South Coast, waves will come from the west/southwest, with 1.5 to 2.5 meters in height, being 2.5 to 3.5 meters in the most western area.
