The Municipality of Calheta confirmed the postponement of the festivities of São João and the 520th anniversary of the Municipality, which will take place tomorrow, scheduled for this weekend, after the fall of stones from the escarpment located in the center of the municipality.
As JM advanced, the fall of some stones this morning on the Calheta waterfront thus determined the postponement of the parties scheduled for tomorrow and after.
Gabriel o Pensador, Karetus and other names made the poster planned for these days that has just been cancelled.
In a statement, the City Council states that after a technical inspection at the site, it was decided to postpone the parties, which will then be held, on a date to be announced.
The decision “was taken after consultation of various entities on site”, namely the Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure, the Regional Director of Roads, the president of LREC and security forces.
The municipality also informs that the escarpment will be the target of intervention, as JM has also reported, by the Rockeiros of the Regional Government, which will dictate the closure of the Calheta waterfront, between Praceta 24 de Junho and the Pingo Doce supermarket area.
The statement also informs that despite the postponement of the celebrations alluding to the 520th anniversary of the Municipality, the theater plays scheduled in the respective program are maintained, namely the play ‘Dois tontos e meio’, by 4 Litro, which takes place this Thursday at 21:00 in the MUDAS auditorium, as well as the show ‘Until death separates us’, by Teatro Avesso, which takes place on June 30th, July 1st and 2nd, in the same place.
